Access statement

We strive to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the accommodation, facilities and surroundings within the park.  Our aim is to help in any way that we can and if you require any assistance during your stay or whilst planning your visit we will be delighted to assist. Our current facilities and services are outlined below.

Seal Bay Resort Waterfront Complex

Pre-Arrival

We provide a number of company letting caravans and also let privately owned static caravans

Website has been tested through the BOBBY package to be accessible (level 1)

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

Check-in and Reception has a large car park at the rear of the reception building

There are multiple designated parking bays for guests with a disability

Once registered at reception guests have full access to the parks

Accessible parking bays are available in close proximity to reception

All bays are 4 metres wide and allow for rear access to vehicles

All facilities are clearly signposted with signs at each junction

Main Entrance and Reception

Access to reception is directly from the car park (one at the front)

There is a level pavement to the entrance

The doors are 170cm wide

There is level access to the doors from the pavement

There is ample room within for a large wheelchair to manoeuvre and turn

Accessible parking bays are outside reception for use whilst in reception

Smoking

Please note that all venues and letting caravans are “No Smoking”

Public Areas – General (Internal)

Tarmac roads service all parts of the park and speed ramps are placed every 50 metres (there are 90cm level gaps on each ramp to allow for wheelchairs, pushchairs and luggage)

There are benches provided in the play areas of the village

Public Areas – WC

The village has toilet blocks in all the main public areas on West Sands

Each area provides toilets which has level entry, toilet and large basin accompanied by grab rails

Restaurants, Bars, Take-Away Café and Oasis CafeMax

Three accessible parking bays can be found outside the Waterfront Complex and Oasis and all are 4 metres wide

Access to the Waterfront Complex is by a ramped path of a 1 in 20 slope and also double doors at the Arcade/Oasis entrance which open to 180cm wide

The Smugglers Restaurant is accessible by a lift which is situated to the right of the main entrance to the Ocean Bar. There is also a disabled toilet on the first floor. Facilities include toilet, hand wash basin and grab rails

The Ocean Bar and Embassy are on one level and have a selection of different tables and chairs (some with central column some without). Tables and chairs can be moved on request

The patio area outside the Ocean Bar is accessible via a ramped path which is situated to the left of the double doors outside the main entrance

There are two further disabled toilets which are situated in the Embassy venue near the Ocean Bar and one which is located at the entrance to the Cove Club which is located next to the Embassy.  Facilities include toilet, hand wash basin and grab rails are fitted throughout these toilets

The Oasis Swimming Pool/ Leisure complex also has two disabled changing rooms/toilets

All areas are on one level

Launderette

Has one accessible parking bay

Level access throughout

There are seven front loading washing machines, (height 115cm) to centre of door handle

There are five dryers which are fully accessible

Shops

There are three shops situated on West Sands two grocery shops and one gift shop. Access to the grocery shops are by ramps and there is ample room within for a large wheelchair to manoeuvre

There is a level pavement/floor before the ramps to the entrance and there is level access through doors

The gift shop is accessible. Low level desk & counter are provided (80cm high) with under space (85cm wide, 55cm deep and 75cm high)

There is ample room within for a large wheelchair to manoeuvre and turn

The counter has an induction loop installed

Staff will offer assistance if required

Leisure Facilities (The Oasis)

Indoor pool, outdoor pool, and leisure facilities can be found at The Oasis on the West Sands Holiday Village and at The White Horse venue on White Horse Village

Two accessible parking bays (4 metres wide) are located outside the leisure facilities

There are double doors to entrance which open to 180cm wide

There is a large changing room with non-slip flooring and wide aisles

There are two disabled changing rooms with toilets available in the changing areas

There is a rolling ramp into the Beach effect leisure pool and all doors to the Sauna and steam room are wide enough to accommodate wheelchair access

Hoist for access in and out of the main pool (staff assisted)

All facilities are well sign posted in clear readable font

Leisure Facilities (Whitehorse Complex)

There is a lift for disabled access to the Cove Club (owners lounge) and White Horse Theatre

There is also an escalator which takes you upstairs

Four accessible parking bays (4 metres wide) are located outside the complex

There are four disabled toilets which are situated in the Lido Café, Arcade area, Cove Club (owners lounge) and White Horse Theatre

All areas on the ground floor have disabled access

Outdoor Facilities

There is a children’s play area which has a gate to entry 85cm wide

The surface of the play area is grass with safety mats integrated under play equipment

Seating (benches) is provided around the area

Conference and Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment

Smoke filters and extraction throughout entertainment area

Flexible seating arrangements throughout

Some entertainment programmes have strobe lighting effects and loud music – please check specific shows

Caravans, Holiday Homes & Twin Units

Static caravans have 3 to 4 steps to the main entrance, each have hand rail one side

Each comprise of between 2 & 5 bedrooms sleeping a maximum of 8 guests, shower/bath room, lounge & kitchen

Each has a parking area close to the caravan and small area of grounds around them

All our holiday homes are non-smoking

We have some caravans in which dogs are allowed (please specify on booking)

Additional Information

Mobile telephone coverage is good in this area but there are public telephones available

There is a local bus service at the West Sands Sales Office and we also provide a free bus service and road train service in the park

Some staff have attended deaf awareness training and Welcome All training in disability awareness

Please be aware that we serve peanuts in all venues

All lifts are required to enter a pin to gain entry. Please ask a member of our team for assistance with this
