Sixties pop rock band, Marmalade will be performing all their hits at Bunn Leisure next month.
Formed over 50 years ago, the band have had many chart successes including international hits “Reflections of My life”, first UK hit single “Lovin’ Things” and “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, the Beatles cover which topped the UK charts in 1969.
Marmalade have been touring the world ever since with their collection of rock classics and will be bringing their high-class harmonies and unforgettable stage performance to our brand new entertainment venue, The Hickstead Showbar.
Originally called Dean Ford & the Gaylords, the group, who cited the Everly Brothers and Cliff Richard & The Shadows as inspiration, were popular in their native, Scotland. Their English chart success started with a name change – Marmalade, which supposedly came to manager Pete Walsh over breakfast!
Their single “I See the Rain” was described by Jimi Hendrix as the best British single of 1967.
A 1968 cover of the Beatles’ song “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” topped the charts in England and sold millions of copies worldwide. A string of hits and an LP followed, generating a loyal fanbase for the band.
Even though the group have had multiple line-up changes over the years, their fans agree that this edition of Marmalade is the finest ever as they continue to record and perform freshly minted showstoppers with timeless classics, keeping 60s hits current today.
To see Marmalade at The Hickstead Showbar, book a break over July 6 and all entertainment is included.
